Contribute to SAF and accelerate your way to Aeroplan Elite Status

Join Air Canada®’s journey to support the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and until October 25, 2025, get Status Qualifying Miles (SQM) toward Aeroplan Elite® Status. Your contribution to SAF supports Air Canada’s long-term aspiration of net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, and helps reduce reliance on conventional aviation fuel over time. .

Support SAF

Use the web application below to purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Environmental Attributes.

Get Status Qualifying Miles

For each purchase of 150 kg CO₂e in SAF Environmental Attributes, get 500 Status Qualifying Miles (SQM), up to 5,000 SQM per eligible Aeroplan® Member during the Offer Period.

Progress towards Aeroplan Elite Status

The SQM from your purchase will be credited to your Aeroplan account by December 1, 2025.

Make a contribution to SAF and get SQM

When you contribute, you are voluntarily purchasing Chooose SAF Environmental Attributes, not physical fuel for a flight. This program does not reduce the GHG emissions from your travel. Instead, it supports Air Canada’s broader voluntary use of SAF, beyond any mandated levels.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel:

A key component to reducing aviation emissions

SAF is an industry term used to reference an alternative aviation fuel and is a type of non-conventional jet fuel made from resources that can be continually replenished, also known as sustainable feedstocks. It is chemically similar to conventional aviation fuel but comes from non-fossil sources, making it a lower-carbon alternative on a lifecycle basis. SAF can be produced from a variety of alternative materials without necessarily depleting natural resources. Some bio-based materials it can be made from include cooking oil, animal waste fat and agricultural or forestry residues. SAF is compatible with existing airport infrastructure and aircraft, making it a safe ‘drop-in’ alternative to conventional aviation fuel.

What is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)?

is an industry term used to reference an alternative aviation fuel and is a type of non-conventional jet fuel made from resources that can be continually replenished, also known as sustainable feedstocks. It is chemically similar to conventional aviation fuel but comes from non-fossil sources, making it a lower-carbon alternative on a lifecycle basis. Some bio-based materials it can be made from include cooking oil, animal waste fat and agricultural or forestry residues. SAF is compatible with existing airport infrastructure and aircraft, making it a safe ‘drop-in’ alternative to conventional aviation fuel.

What are SAF Environmental Attributes or SAF Attributes?

Environmental attributes associated with SAF or SAF attributes refer to the reduced environmental impacts of using SAF, such as the GHG emissions avoided by not extracting non-renewable resources like crude oil (used to make conventional aviation-fuel). These environmental attributes result from Air Canada using SAF instead of conventional aviation fuel.

How does my contribution support SAF?

Under this Offer, half of your contribution goes directly towards the purchase of SAF. Your contribution to SAF supports Air Canada’s long-term aspiration of net-zero GHG emissions by 2050, and helps reduce reliance on conventional aviation fuel over time. For more information, refer to . These environmental attributes are retired on your behalf. Environmental attributes associated with SAF that are purchased are tracked, verified by an independent third party and retired. Retiring environmental attributes associated with SAF prevents these from being resold or otherwise used a second time.
